Joseph Conrad, an English writer with Polish heritage, is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the English language. Many consider him a literary impressionist or an early modernist, but his works also incorporate 19th-century realism. He has been an influence on many authors, with many incorporating his narrative writing style and use of anti-heroes into their works. His career at sea served as an inspiration of many of his works.
