Review:
“Being a fan of John Carpenter, I have to admit that I was pulled to this graphic novel based more or less on his name. Was I hoodwinked into a mediocre title based on star power? Thank God, no. This was an enjoyable romp, though nothing special or remarkable. Not to spoil much, but the basic plot is a cross between Alien and Event Horizon – future space crew going on an exploratory salvage mission aboard an alien vessel and… well, to say more would be spoiling. The art is well done, the pacing is fine, the mystery and explanations are dolled out adequately for my taste, and the story doesn’t overstay its welcome.
That’s not to say it’s great. As I said, it’s not real original. And due to being a horror story, we still have occasional moments when smart, scientific folk make amazingly bad decisions. “Maybe we should quarantine those people who’ve been exposed to unknown alien substances” and “We should keep the door to our ship secure” don’t appear to be concepts these crew members possess. But if you can forgive these issues, I think you’ll enjoy the final product. And you should buy this compilation versus the individual issues – save your money and all.”
